Farmers Alley Theatre presents the Regional Premiere of “THE TOXIC AVENGER”
Farmers Alley Theatre has a tradition of producing laugh out loud musicals such as Spamalot, Murder for Two, the Trailer Park Musicals and Urinetown. Now get ready to roar with laughter for our newest musical comedy, THE TOXIC AVENGER – running February 3rd-19th at the Little Theatre on Oakland Drive! It's part Little Shop of Horrors, part Bat Boy, part 80s New Jersey Rock n' Roll and all parts supremely entertaining.
THE TOXIC AVENGER is based on the cult classic B-movie from the 1980's of the same name. It tells the heroic story of Melvin Ferd the Third and his mission to save his beloved home state of New Jersey from evil corporations and polluters. However, in his quest to save his beloved city of Tromaville, he gets dropped into a vat of toxic nuclear waste and transforms into the hideous green killing machine - THE TOXIC AVENGER! Despite his grotesque appearance he does manage to snag a love interest - the vivacious and blind librarian, Sarah. On his journey to save his city and get the girl, Melvin (or Toxie as Sarah calls him) runs afoul of the villainous town Mayor, Babs Belgoody. Will Toxie defeat the Mayor, earn Sarah's love and get his eyeball back in his socket? You'll have to come see this hysterical rock musical February 3rd-19th at the Little Theatre on Oakland Drive to find out!
THE TOXIC AVENGER will be directed by one of Farmers Alley’s Founders, Robert Weiner who previously staged the comedies Fully Committed, [title of show] and All in the Timing. Lori Hatfield joins the creative staff as Music Director with many Rock n’ Roll credits on her resume (Zombie Prom, Jesus Christ Superstar, Avenue Q). The cast features a mix of professional out-of-town and local talent: Deon’te Goodman, Jarrad Biron Green, Hannah Hesseltine (Million Dollar Quartet), Greg Laux (I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change), and Jessica Medoff.
