The Light in the Piazza
One of the most lush and romantic musicals since West Side Story, the Tony-Award winning The Light in the Piazza premieres in Southwest Michigan in June of 2012. In the summer of 1953, Margaret Johnson is touring the Tuscan countryside with her beautiful daughter, Clara. While sightseeing, Clara’s hat is blown away in a sudden gust of wind and lands at the feet of the young and handsome Fabrizio, sparking an immediate and intense romance between the two. As The Light in the Piazza unfolds, secrets are revealed, cultures clash, and hopes and dreams are ever-changing. Don’t miss what critics called “the most beautiful score written for the American musical theatre in 20 years.”
