Sponsor Spotlight: Reverend Vincent Lavieri

June 30, 2026

Reverend Vincent Lavieri’s love of theatre began in his hometown of Chicago, where live performance was an integral part of city life. For Vince, theatre became more than entertainment, it was a way of understanding people, relationships, and the human experience.

A retired clergyman, Vince first came to Kalamazoo in 1991 and returned in 2015 to complete a chaplain residency at Bronson. During a walk through downtown, he discovered Farmers Alley Theatre and was drawn in by its intimate atmosphere and vibrant energy.

The first production Vince saw was Camelot, but it was Jonathan Larson’s RENT that would leave the most profound impression. The production held deep personal meaning, as Vince had quoted from an article written about Jonathan Lawson at the funeral of his best friend—an actor who shared his love of theatre—so he felt compelled to see RENT to hear what Jonathan Larson himself wanted to say.

That experience reinforced what theatre has always meant to Vince. He believes theatre and Christian liturgy share a common purpose: offering insight into life and using stories to challenge, heal, and connect us to one another.

Rev. Vince is one of the most enthusiastic supporters of Farmers Alley Theatre’s Adopt an Actor/Director Program. Through this special initiative, community members help underwrite the contracts and travel expenses of the exceptional actors and directors who bring our productions to life each season. In return, sponsors enjoy unique opportunities to connect with the artists they support, including sharing a meal with them, attending opening night celebrations, and taking pride in helping Farmers Alley attract outstanding professional talent to Kalamazoo.

Next season, Rev. Vince has generously pledged to "adopt an actor" for all six productions; a remarkable commitment and an extraordinary gift to our theatre. His support extends far beyond financial contributions; he is also one of our most dedicated and enthusiastic audience members, championing Farmers Alley both on and off the stage.

This season, Rev. Vince is serving as a Principal Sponsor for Dear Evan Hansen in honor of Jason Mulay (who played Mark in RENT), helping make this powerful and important production possible.
